Marriage

Eight years after LaNae passed away, I met and married Catherine Eileen Shaeffer, now Catherine Shaeffer Frodsham.

After five years of dating disasters and yet another woman pulling the plug on a relationship, I decided to withdraw from the dating scene and catch my breath. I had already deleted my online profile and was simplifying my calendar when I met and began dating Catherine. One simple sentence does not even begin to describe the miracles that occurred to bring us together and one day, perhaps, I’ll elaborate. She is a widow, I a widower and between us so much experience in suffering and loss. With that experience also came comfort, understanding and empathy.

A goal we talked about from the beginning of our relationship was to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and we submitted mission papers soon after our marriage. Senior missionaries can suggest the location and type of service. We requested to serve in French Canada, or at least a french speaking country. We have been called to serve in the France Lyon mission for a period of 18 months, starting in November of this year.

We will be serving as welfare and self-reliance missionaries. Catherine has years of experience teaching the program in her stake, I am reading up on the subject now. We look forward to documenting our mission on this web site. Our experiences, through writing and images.
